Changing a Fall
From top left to bottom right... 1) The old and new fall. 2) If the fall is tight, insert fid to open up a hole for the knife blade. 3) in line with the original slit of the fall, VERY CAREFULLY cut the fall so the end is split in two, leaving two 'ears'... keep the blade off the whip and knot. A good pair of fine pointed scissors will work well (and probably safer). 4&5) The ears need to be removed by cutting with a knife or scissors (don't cut the whip or knot!). 6) Sometime before the next step, the new fall must threaded on the whip. 7) Pull the old fall out of the knot. Care must be taken not to disturb the empty knot and insert the new fall as soon as possible. 8) Threading the new fall. 9) Pull tight!
